How Hypnotherapy Can Help

CONFIDENCE AND SELF

ESTEEM

Boost confidence and

raise self esteem

Self esteem or self worth can be understood as the extent to which we appreciate and respect ourselves. It is our personal evaluation, dependent on which our subconscious mind sets boundaries. We establish a critical inner voice that reminds us of our perceived limitations and influences our current behaviour. If our limitations are low, we develop negative inner talk such as "I am not clever enough" or "not good enough". As this inner voice develops early on in our lives, we come to accept what it tells us. If our esteem is low, we may feel that we are not good enough to do something and we justify this to ourselves and set out to prove to others and ourselves that this is so, perhaps a bit of self-sabotage. It is our subconscious mind keeping us safe and preventing us from taking risks, reminding us of our perceived limitations. Poor self image and low self esteem can affect you in different ways. Of course, we can be supremely confident in one area, perhaps intellectually, but find it difficult to socialise or relate to others. You may feel better staying in the background (in both situations). It can hold you back from achieving within your sphere of work; you may feel other people are far more capable than you, far more qualified. The negative inner voice reminds us to remain within our boundaries and we lack confidence to do those things we want to do. So self esteem plays a big part in our self confidence. Self esteem is your considered assessment of yourself, self confidence is your belief in what you can achieve, what goals you can aspire to. If you have high self esteem you have a respect for yourself and an acceptance of who you are and confidence in your abilities. Hypnotherapy can help you make the necessary changes in your life, it can help you to stop that negative inner chatter and feel much more positive about yourself. It can help lift your self esteem and boost your self confidence. You will have confidence to make plans for your future. Learning to value yourself and accept yourself so that you can move forward and change those things that need to be changed in order to achieve your full potential. go back to top^

ANXIETY AND STRESS

Stress, anxiety, panic

attacks

With today's hectic lifestyle you may be trying to juggle many things, struggling to solve what appear to be continuing problems or maybe just feeling totally overwhelmed. You may be experiencing continuous anxiety and stress or even suffering panic attacks. Fear and stress play a necessary and normal function in the body. However, in a modern living style this is not necessarily beneficial. When we feel fear, changes happen very quickly in our body, adrenalin is released and muscles tense ready for quick action and the heart accelerates. When the fear has passed the body relaxes. Constant pressure and stress do not allow the body time to relax and calm down. Continual pressure and stress can cause panic attacks, lead to lowered immunity and health problems such as raised blood pressure, ulcers, sexual problems and/or sleeping difficulties. Deep relaxation during hypnosis can help lower levels of stress and replace worries and doubts with positive feelings of well being. To continue the effect of the therapy you may be shown how to do self hypnosis or given a CD which will aid deep relaxation. go back to top^

UNWANTED HABITS

Unwanted habits -

smoking, nail biting,

blushing, hair pulling,

teeth grinding

(bruxism)

We may struggle to overcome unwanted habits and our conscious mind will tell us that we should stop but somehow we continue with that old habit. During hypnosis we bypass the conscious part of the mind that tells us that things are too difficult or that it is quite impossible to stop, and we talk to the subconscious part of our mind and update it. We let it know that it is now time to make changes in our life, that we are now ready to make change happen. Habits may be learned behaviour or develop as a result of coping with stress. They are often irrational and can cause a great deal of distress, such as trichotillomania (hair pulling) and bruxism (grinding teeth). Maybe you suffer with blushing unnecessarily. Biting nails can be a learned behaviour. Maybe a parent or sibling bites their nails. Hypnotherapy can help you make the change to stop biting your nails. Habits can be addictive. Once you have taken the decision to stop smoking, hypnotherapy can help to:- Build your confidence to stop Boost your motivation to stop Increase your determination to stop I take two sessions to help you to stop smoking. The first session aims to build your confidence and your determination to stop smoking. The second session is the day that you choose to stop smoking. The treatment includes a CD to help reinforce your determination to remain a non smoker. There will be a free booster session should you find yourself tempted to smoke. WEIGHT PROBLEMS

Weight Issues

It is a fact of life that when we eat more than our body needs our body stores the excess calories and we gain weight. It is surprising just how quickly that excess weight can go on. Why we do overeat may not be entirely clear to us but eating is a pleasant experience, particularly when we are in the company of others. However, there are other reasons we may overeat. We may eat because we are unhappy, to cheer ourselves up. Maybe we eat to make ourselves feel better. Maybe we are totally bored or perhaps we eat merely out of habit. It may be that we rush in from work and just eat anything we have to hand, giving no thought to what we are eating at all. We may overeat as a way of coping with stress, unhappiness or low self esteem. Anger can drive us to eat large amounts of food our body does not need. In order to make those changes that need to be made to help you shed excess weight we need to deal with just what triggers that overeating. Hypnotherapy can help you deal with the cause of your overeating and help you make changes in your eating patterns. It can help you begin to choose wisely in what you eat, how you eat and when you eat. Hypnotherapy can help you overcome feelings of failure and become far more motivated to make change, far more motivated to achieve your goals. Hypnotherapy can boost your self esteem and help you feel very much better within yourself. To begin to respect yourself and become aware of what you eat. It can help you become far more motivated to take control and change those patterns of eating which have caused you to overeat and to begin to choose nutritious foods and become fit and healthy. EATING DISORDERS Anorexia and bulimia are serious conditions and it is wise to check with your GP before starting hypnotherapy. go back to top^

INSOMNIA

Sleeping problems

Anxiety and stress may hold you back from dropping off into that deeply restful sleep. Maybe you lead a very stressed lifestyle, perhaps there are too many things on your mind, or unhappy memories that return once you switch off the light. Even minor things have a tendency to suddenly assume enormous proportions when we close our eyes and try to sleep. You may find that you lie awake, tossing and turning, your mind trying to solve problems or it may be that you fall straight to sleep but wake up in the early hours and you just can't get back to sleep. When you go to bed it's time to leave behind all the problems of the day and relax into your comfortable bed and just drift off into a deep and restful sleep. Hypnotherapy can help you address problems which may be causing you distress, help you leave behind unhappy memories and it can help you relax better within yourself. go back to top^

PHOBIAS AND FEARS

Phobias and

exaggerated fears can

Fear is a natural human response and is a necessary response. It is certainly an important response in situations when we need to react quickly - it stimulates our body and our minds to prepare for swift action. A phobia is a greatly exaggerated fear and the emotional feeling of fear can be accompanied by physical symptoms such as feeling faint, sweating and trembling. Many phobias develop during childhood, maybe learning through family reactions but any situation can be enough to initiate fear and subsequent events may serve to compound the fear. Suddenly a situation can become extremely frightening - something to be avoided at all costs. If the situation that causes the phobic reaction is something that can be avoided in your life, then you cope with the problem. If you find that you have a fear or phobia which is holding you back, perhaps keeping you from enjoying your life to the full, or maybe it is something which is stopping you from doing something you really want to do, it's time to allow yourself the time and space to deal with the fear. Phobias and fears are diverse and can include:- Fear of flying Fear of travelling on the underground Fear of being trapped in traffic Fear of injections Fear of visiting the dentist Fear of lifts Fear of insects Fear of heights Fear of being alone go back to top^
